Dear Figure Skating Club of Memphis Members,
We recently learned about a new fund raising opportunity for our club that we would like you to participate in, if at all possible. Before you roll your eyes, we want you to know that this won’t cost you any more money and may even allow you to make some money!
The fund raising is through the new website MySkatingMall.com. 5% to 90% of every sale on this site goes to raise money for skating clubs and teams. It is a marketplace to buy and sell new and used skating items. In many ways, it is similar to eBay but customized to figure skating. MySkatingMall.com allows skaters and parents to list gently used skating items for sale that they are no longer using. All basic listings on the site are completely free until March 2011. (After that, a $1 per item per year listing fee begins.)
Now here’s the beauty of the site: MySkatingMall.com enables our club to make money in three ways:
1) When you list an item on the site, you have the option to choose how much of the sale price you want forwarded to our club’s PayPal account when the item sells. The top choice is 87.5%. You can choose anywhere between 2.5% and 87.5% but our hope is that you will choose the 87.5% so that we will have more funds to support our members. If just five of our members sell a $50 item and each has chosen 87.5% of the purchase to go to our club, we will have raised $218.75!
2) When you buy an item from MySkatingMall.com, 2.5% of the purchase price will automatically be forwarded to our PayPal account.
3) MySkatingMall.com has established partnerships with many skating retailers. When our members go to MySkatingMall.com and then link to these Partner sites, 5% of every purchase will go to our club’s account. The logos and links to participating Partner Stores can be found on the bottom half of the page at http://www.myskatingmall.com.
We hope that you see that our club can make money from items that you are no longer using and from purchases that you are already making! If you have access to a digital camera and a computer, you will be able to participate in our fund raising campaign.
All users of the site need to have a PayPal account and you can get one for free at http://www.paypal.com. Besides that, all we need you to do is shift your purchases to MySkatingMall.com.
Our club has established a free account at MySkatingMall.com where we are able to track which of our members are participating and what transactions we are getting credit for. That way, you can be confident that our club is receiving the money from your transactions.
Please go to http://www.myskatingmall.com and register to support our club! Choose “Figure Skating Club of Memphis” from the drop-down menu on the first page of the registration. If for some reason our name is not there, it simply means our club has not been processed yet. You can still add us at any time through your “My Account” settings.
